Veterans Day

This is an idea that I had that I think we will try next year. Something that you could do for Veterans Day is to find some local Veterans. Have the church members make cards and write letters for them. Then have some church members make them dinner and deliver the letters and cards. This is a great way to let them know that you are thinking about them and to share God's love.

You could also contact your local Veterans Hospital if there is one in your area. You could find out some things that you are allowed to take to Veterans and have church members bring them in. You could also have people make letters and cards to go with the items. Have some members take the items to the Hospital and give them to the Veterans. This lets them know that someone cares and shows them God's love. Plant the seed of love and bring others to Christ.

You could also hold a dinner for Veterans and reach out that way. As always, you could adopt a deployed service member and share God's love that way. My adopted members of the military get lots of art and other things from my church kids. They know where it is coming from and are appreciative. I am showing them God's love just by sending them things from the church.

Community Festivals

We just had our annual community festival. Each year the teens sell ice cream and other snacks there. We also hand out flyers about church events including VBS, Caravan, and Sunday School. The teens also create posters with pictures about their different events throughout the year. This year they included the Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas presents, the 30 hour famine, and their weekly youth nights. It is a great way to meet new people in the community and be a witness to other people. The money that they raise goes toward their community service projects. Anytime that you are able to be active in the community is a good thing.

Adopt A Service Member

Our church is supporting a service member that we adopted at homefronthugs.org. We are sending letters, cards and care packages to our service member. This is a good way to show love to someone who needs a hug from home. We are supporting someone who is allowing us to have our freedom.

Christmas Blessings 2015

This year we are doing a special project for Christmas. Everyone in the church has a glass jar with a Christmas Blessings label on it. Throughout the year people are supposed to put change, verses, and encouraging messages in it. At the end of the year they are supposed to give the jar to someone. Throughout the year they are supposed to pray about who they should give the jar to. You could do this as afamily, a group, or as a church. It is a project that will spread God's love to many people.
